What are the trends for management education in 2025? This question was discussed during the EFMD’s Annual Conference, which took place on 6-7 June 2011 in Brussels. The European project OpenScout contributed with a workshop and a life demonstration and showed how Open Educational Resources can advance self-directed learning in management - much before 2025!
The EFMD Annual Conference addresses topics related to management education and development. It brings together EFMD members, companies, educational institutions and other associations. The topic of this year’s conference "Management Education in 2025" was closely related to the project
OpenScout. OpenScout is a portal, which provides access to a large amount of Open Educational Resources in the field of management and business education and training as well as to collaboration tools. The innovative, technology enhanced learning models of OpenScout and another EFMD project EU-VIP were presented at the workshop "Learning from Your Office Chair: Virtual Mobility in Internships and Open Educational Resources". The OpenScout presentation is available
here. In a lively discussion participants confirmed positive experiences with open educational resources and gave examples how they increased student interest and course enrolment at their institution. Questions related to intellectual property rights and quality were also discussed. The audience agreed that community features around open content are important for the long-term success of open educational resources.
During demonstration sessions the participants in the conference could get hands-on experience of how the OpenScout portal works, what kind of search results it brings and what they can do with these educational materials.
