Learning and knowledge management are closely related. OpenScout offers tools and services that support both, life-long learning in business and management as well as knowledge creation and management in this domain. These aspects of OpenScout were presented at i-KNOW 2011, 7-9 September 2011, in Graz.
The International Conference on Knowledge Management and Knowledge Technologies (i-KNOW) brings together international researchers and practitioners from the fields of knowledge management and knowledge technologies. In the exhibition area of i-KNOW OpenScout presented its portal to knowledge management experts. They could get hands-on experience of how the OpenScout portal works, what kind of search results it brings and what they can do with these educational materials. The visitors stated that the concepts and technologies employed by OpenScout are highly relevant for their different applications domains.
In the German speaking i-Praxis Track targeted at knowledge management practitioners Uta Schwertel from the OpenScout partner IMC AG presented the project OpenScout. In her talk she introduced the added value of using Open Educational Resources for advancing business and management education. She explained relevant OpenScout technologies and showed the impact for professional application scenarios. The audience discussed in particular the importance of easy to use support for adaptation, licensing and re-publishing of open content, an aspect that is supported by OpenScout’s tool library.

The demonstrations were given at the booth the OpenScout partner IMC AG, Europe’s leading service and technology provider for advanced learning solutions. As an innovative learning technology company, IMC AG also systematically researches new methods and concepts to improve learning and knowledge management. Four of the IMC AG research projects were demonstrated at i-KNOW: OpenScout, MIRROR, ROLE and PROWIT.
